The Brain and Mind Electrophysiology laboratory (BME lab) studies the mechanisms and treatment methods for memory and higher cognitive functions in humans with emerging brain recording and stimulation technologies. Our research is carried out by a multidisciplinary group of scientists specializing in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, neurology and neurosurgery. The international network of collaborations with Polish, European and American clinics (international BME iEEG network) enables us to collect and analyze data acquired directly from patients using the latest techniques for recording and stimulating brain activities. For this purpose we use specialized hybrid electrode designs, systems and devices for brain-computer interfaces, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence tools. We are united in a mission to decipher the code of the human mind in the electrical activities of the brain, in order to understand it and restore its conscious abilities to remember and know.
BME lab is located in the Mutimedia Systems department of the faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, and belongs to the BioTechMed center of the Gdansk University of Technology.
