Lecture

The aim of the course is to raise students' awareness of the social and ethical implications of information technology development and to develop skills in dealing with psychological phenomena in IT projects. The course consists of three thematic groups:

  • Ethical aspects of IT, professional responsibility, opportunities and threats related to the use of information technologies
  • Psychology for IT specialists
  • Legal aspects: intellectual property, licenses, IT contracts

The lecture covers the following topics:

  1. Introduction, ethical and social aspects in computer science
  2. The impact of information technology on society
  3. Professional and ethical responsibility of IT specialists
  4. ACM/IEEE Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
  5. Methods and tools for ethical assessment
  6. Psychological foundations of communication
  7. Principles of presentation and communication of information
  8. Principles of teamwork
  9. Social phenomena on the Internet
  10. The "human factor" in an IT project
  11. Legal aspects: intellectual property, licenses, IT contracts
  12. The impact of law on IT systems

Project

The project includes:

  1. Ethical analysis workshops
  2. Psychology workshops
  3. Preparing and delivering a presentation on a topic related to the mutual influence of information technology applications and social phenomena
