The Department of Sonar Systems exercises a research, teaching, and commercial activity. The academic and technical staff of the Department has a strong, long-term experience in building underwater acoustic systems, ranging from analysis and design, and ending with the complete performance of utility models, prototypes and short-series production. Our team built or modernized over thirty dedicated underwater acoustic systems for the Polish Navy, and Polish ports and shipyards.

The Department is a part of the Center of Marine and Military Technology in the Gdansk University of Technology. We are referred to as the hydroacoustics team. The center has many licenses and certifications which allow to perform work in the field of military and police systems. In addition, the Center has implemented a quality system that meets the requirements of ISO 9001 and AQAP 2110.
