PhD scholarship offer in the field of microwave engineering

This is a PhD scholarship offer in  a research project: Electromagnetic Design of flexIble SensOrs. The  task for this position is related to electromagnetic design of passive components for 5G systems using new substrates. IThe e student  will use the techniques developed as part of the on-going Team-Tech project related to the fast electromagnetic design of planar microwave structures. In particular, the student  will use InventSIM with its mesh deformation capabilities and fast frequency sweep techniques to optimize the expected performance of the components and to obtain the desired design goals. For fabrication, the student will work with the team  in of Warsaw University of Technology  The circuits will be then fabricated and measured. in order to confirm the suitability of the   new substrates for microwave circuits for 5G.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Research related to the design an  of 5G components  using new substrate,
  2. Design of  passive components for 5G , fabrication and measurement
  3. Interaction with national and international  project partners
  4. Report writing
  5. Preparation of research papers  for  leading journals and conferences.
  6. Dissemination of project results on workshops and conferences
  7. Assisting  MSc  students

Required Education Level: MSc  degree  in microwave and antenna engineering

Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Documented research  experience with the  finite element software  for Maxwell’s equations
  2. Good publication record
  3. Interest in computational electromagnetics and microwave engineering

Required Languages:

  1. Fluent English

Required Research Experience

MSc thesis or  publications  related to  computational electromagnetics, Participant of the Doctoral School

Required documents:

  1. Cover letter with the description of particular skills or achievements related to the scope of the project
  2. CV with the complete list of publications (if any)
  3. A copy of the language certificate or other evidence of fluency in English
  4. Names and email addresses (and, if possible, phone numbers) of the two academic/professional referees who may be contacted by the recruiting committe

Selection process

The recruitment process involves two steps

1. Evaluation of the applications by a selection committee

2. Interview with the shortlisted applicants
